Back from holidays

We had an awesome week down in Merimbula on the South Coast. The highlight for me was going whale watching on Tuesday morning. Justin minded the girls while i set out on a 4 hour boat trip with a mission to see whales up close. Within 15 minutes of leaving the jetty, we had whales in our sights. It was a mother and baby humpback whale, and they were HUGE. The baby was very inquisitive and wanted to come and play around the boat, but the mother had it firmly in her sights and was a bit protective at first, but then held back. I got some good photos of tails, but they didn’t breach out of the water like I was hoping. Still, it was an amazing experience and I’d love to go back and do it again some day.

The rest of the week was quiet and relaxing. The girls just wanted to go to the park or the beach, so I think we saw every playground in the region. We drove down to Eden and visited the Killer whale museum, they also had a good playground! We also visited our friends who live in Pambula, and while they didn’t have a playground, they did have a big boyish son-in-law who loved playing with them and teaching them how to play Spotlight in the very dark backyard.

So between Jessica and Meg’s sleeps in the day, we did manage to get out a bit and see a lot of the local attractions. We had a great apartment with speclacular views of the lake and ocean and I was happy to sit and read on the balcony. Justin persuaded me to take my scrapbooking stuff, and I was able to get 4 layouts done. It was great to be able to just scrap for hours.

So all in all, a great week and we all feel very relaxed and pleased to be home.
