I’m Home

Wow, thanks everyone for all your lovely messages and kind thoughts on the arrival of Amy. It has been a whirlwind few days, but she was all worth it and as cute as a button.

Justin got all the main info right in the last post!! Fortunately it was quick in terms of the labour, and I was pleased to have gotton through fairly unscathed. One surprising thing that happened, is that when she was born I cried. Absolutely sobbed. I haven’t ever done that before. I was so overwhelmed with emotion and tiredness, and pain and knowing that this is the LAST one, that it just all flooded out in heaving sobs.

It is nice to be home from hospital and with the kids. Having Justin at home has been great and it is scary to think that at some point he is going to have to go back to work.

ANyway here are a few new pics. If you click on any of the photos it takes you to the gallery.

Welcome, Amy Clare (the baby has arrived!)

G’day all this is the hubby speaking,

Fran woke me up at 4am this morning to inform me that the contractions were serious and that we’d better get moving. We arrived at the hospital at around 5pm (long shower to wake me up, sorry Fran).

Contractions kept coming on stronger, culminating in the baby being born on 23/09/2006 at 8:14am, 3.96 kgs (8 pounds 12 ounces). She managed to soldier through the birth without any drugs and no stitches.

Fran & baby are doing well and resting in the hospital. The other 3 kids are very excited, especially after seeing the birth video. It grossed out Meg, but Holly and Jess were very impressed.

So well done Fran! Congratulations on finally getting that baby out! And welcome to the world and our family Amy Clare.

And of course, there’s heaps more photos in the gallery. So be warned…

Just a quick update from a tired me….

Due date today and it came and went with no change in the status of things!

Saw the Dr and she said that the head is 2/5 engaged, which is a good sign that things might be moving along, as it is highly ususual for a 4th baby to be engaged at all. The back is now in perfect position for birth. So we keep waiting for now.

Had a great night out last night with the family at Mum and Dad’s. Penny’s sister was over from WA so we had a huge dinner, got home late and paid for both all night. I had terrible indigestion and Meg and Jess took it in turns to be whingy and sooky on the hour, so I had virtually no sleep. Fortunately, Lisa was brave enough to take Meg off my hands today, and Moi popped over for Morning tea, so I had a few distractions to keep me from throttling at least one child.

Wasn’t Steve Irwin’s Memorial great? Poor Terri, I feel for her so much, but a great tribute to her husband, much more appropriate than a State funeral, which just clearly wouldn’t have been his style.

Ok that is it for me now. I have to get off my feet and into a comfy chair, am so pooped I can barely think straight let alone type the right letters here.

Stay tuned………

Deja-vu

Seems like I’ve written this before – another weekend came and went and no baby arrived. I went into the baby’s room this monring just to check that there was no one in the cot in case someone had forgotten to tell me that it had happened! Friday night was looking really promising, but then again it all just stopped. I’m feeling like “The boy who cried Wolf” with getting everyone all hyped up and then nothing. From now on, I’m not saying a word until I’m hanging onto the table and gasping for breath and experiencing the REAL thing!

I had an episode of Baby Brain this weekend, when I turned up to my nephew’s 5th birthday party at the finishing time. I could have sworn that the invitiation said 1.30pm, and well it did……but 11.30-1.30pm. Ooops! Sorry Lisa!!

Great news – my favourite In-Laws are coming over from Perth to visit. They booked flights yesterday for a week over here to meet new grandchild and see our new place. Even Justin’s Nana is coming. It is so exciting and I can’t wait to see them.

That is about it for now. The day is stretching ahead of us, so might take the kids to the park for a bit of a run around. Might get my waters moving too!

Weird things

Posted on

Rach had a go, so did Moi, so I guess I should ‘fess up to the things that make me qualify as Weird!

1. I can’t touch cotton wool balls – the sensation of them makes my spine tingle, similar to that of nails being run down a blackboard. Ok that one was probably too weird to start off with. Are you worried!!!

2. Watching people brush their teeth makes me want to vomit – it seriously does. I don’t know why, but if I have to witness it, I have to cover my mouth and breathe deeply to avoid being sick. Ask Justin – he loves to tease me about it.

3. I’m a dishwasher stacker neat freak. If it doesn’t stack nicely, I’ll do it all over again. In fact, I’d rather just do it all myself, cause when Justin does it, it is all WRONG.

4. I have to use my left ear when on the phone
. Even though my hearing is exactly the same in both ears, I can’t hear with the right on the phone. Well I can, but it doesn’t sound as good. I’m sure there is a thesis topic in that somewhere.

5. I have to have the toilet roll rolling from the top too. Rach is right – it just doesn’t work well if it rolls from underneath. Why don’t people get that?? LOL 🙂

So that is me and my “weirdness”. Have I totally freaked you out?

Hmmm – twinges occuring

Posted on

I’m micro-analysing every twinge and flutter – you would think by now that I would have figured out that when it really happens I’ll really know about it! I’m just impatient.

Saw the midwife on Tuesday who said that my pains are just normal, and that it is an indication that things are moving along. She felt the baby, and it’s back was a little too posterior for her liking, so she suggested that I get on all fours, shake my Touche and try to get the baby to roll over a bit to make it more central. Well, I have been doing that and what a difference. No pain any more. The little bugger must have been sitting right on a nerve or something, causing me all that pain. I now feel a million dollars and not quite so desperate to have it out.

We have Holly’s first school Concert tonight. She is excited about being at school when it is night time, but also that we’ll be there watching her. Grandparents x 4 will be there and Meg and Jess are ready to do the actions along with the Kindergarten kids. We are totally overdone hearing the tune “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot bikini“, but Meg adores it. When can she go to preschool – she’ll be in her element!

My sister Lisa is off to Melbourne for the weekend to see Jamie Oliver live on Stage. My dream!! Oh well, maybe next time for me. She is 32 weeks pregnant, so borrowed some of my glamourous maternity clothes, in order to look fab in case she gets chosen to go up on stage with him. My dream!!

Rach has found a great website for a girl in the US that makes the most delectible bags. Check out the site if you want to have a peek. I’m ordering one as a nappy bag.

Ok well that is it for now. Thanks to everyone who keeps checking in here to see how I’m doing, and for all the phone calls to monitor my sanity levels. It means a lot to me. Hopefully soon I’ll have some news. 🙂

Another weekend gone

Posted on

And nothing to show for it!!!

Well no baby at least. I keep having lots of contractions while standing and sitting, but as soon as I lie down it all stops. Last night was about the 3rd night in a row for this happening, and I resigned myself to thinking that nothing was going to eventuate again, and I so I ended up having the best night’s sleep.

On Saturday MIL took H and M for most of the day. Justin, Jess and I went to the mall, did some shopping had lunch and it was so EASY with only 1 child in tow. There was no fiighting, arguements teasing and it made it actually quite pleasant to go shopping. Can someone remind me why I am busting my gut each day with soon to be 4 of these? Must be love (or insanity!).

Yesterday, Mum and Dad dropped in unexpectedly and took all 3 girls home with them for the day. This time NO Kids. Ahhh, blissful, remnded me of the days in our early marriage, where we just did stuff for us. They bought them home at 7pm, ready for bed, and in they went – out like a light. I wish every day were this easy!!

I did get a bit creative on the weekend and made a huge notice board for our kitchen wall. I covered a large piece of chipboard kind of soft wood with heshion and Justin screwed it to the wall. Now it has all the notes, and phone numbers and things of importance that I am always losing. LOVE IT. We also picked up a lounge suite from my grandparents place. I think they have probably had it since they got married (60years) and now it is residing in the play room , so that baby and I have somewhere to sit while the kids are out there. Slwoly, slowly we are getting thigs organised.

I have to say that one of the nicest things about moving here is the neighbours. In our old place, Mr Spooky next door never said a word to us in the whole 8 years, and the people behind were so foul we never wanted to speak to them! Here, the couple across the road always shout out “Hi” and the lady next door came in for a peek at the renovations. Everyone is lovely and friendly, and once I am out and about a bit more, I hope to get to know them evern better. A girl 4 houses down has just had twins, so I’m sure there’ll be lots to talk to her about!

OK better make a move. What will thee day bring?? I wonder 🙂

Haven’t seen this one before. It took a lot of thought really, and Justin was looking at me questioning “Is this work related?” cause I’m at work today!!! Of course Honey…my mind is totally on the job……..

1. Which famous person would you most like to learn that you are descended from?

I would like to learn that I am decended from Royalty, like the Queen or Princess Diana, and am actually a Lady or a Duchess!!!

2. Which famous person would you hate to learn that you are descended from?
Same a Moi – bad people like Hitler, George W Bush (!), Stalin etc

3. If you could be ancestor to any living famous person, who would it be and why?
I love to be able to say “I’m related to Maggie Beer” I love her cooking show and her great, easy cooking techniques. Also, Nigella or Jamie Oliver. Can you tell I love cooking!

4. If you could go back in time and meet any known ancestor(s) of yours, who would it be?

I don’t know if I am related to anyone famous, but Justin is a decendant of Ned Kelly. I think that explains a lot really! So it would be fun to go back in time and warn him to be good.

Nothing

Fathers Day came and went…no baby. I honestly thought something might happen Sunday night cause the Braxton Hicks changed to painful contractions, but then it all just stopped. Bummer that. The wait continues.

I was so sad to hear about Steve Irwin. Mainly kept thinking about his wife and kids, and wondering how on earth they are going to get through this. Such a tragedy for a larger than life character. The kids recognised him from a Wiggles DVD we have, so they too were a bit gob-smakced when I said that he had died. Life sure throws some low punches sometimes. I wish them well.

Woweeee – I have managed to put some piccies up. Justin re-jigged my entire computer on the weekend, and now I am able to have photos up again. Here are a few.

First one of me and the baby belly…..My head is a bit chopped off, but if you click on the photo it will enlarge and you’ll be able to see it clearly!

Then this is one of the girls and I. Check out Jessie’s cheesy grin. She has just learnt to do that for photos!

And then this one was taken while ago. The girls on the stairs. A favourite sitting place in our new house.

That’s all for now. Ciao.

Today Holly had a “Wear your favourite Footy Team Colours” day at school. I have to admit, that at 5, Holly has never seen a footy game let alone would know a team from a team. Our family has always been on the other side of the fence, watching the Referee (Dad was First grade Ref, Brother James is like Number 5 in NSW at the moment) and all for Rugby Union, never that swear word Rugby League or AFL. So it was even hard for me to put together an outfit that resembled some team colours when all I had to play with was pink, purple, pink purple and a bit of navy!!

So anywho, she got out of the bath this morning and I started the whole “Let’s get excited about the nun-uniform day” thing, and she cried out “This is a stupid thing for the boys – I don’t want to go today!”. So totally out of character for me I say “OK”, wildly thinking to myself “Ooooh, yay having Holly home will help with the other 2 and I can stay off my feet a bit”. So here we are, kids all playing together and me having some time in the AM, to update my blog. Unheard of! I feel slightly naughty at keeping her home, but in times of necessity, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Ahhh the serenity.

In other news, nothing. Today is the first of September, the first of Spring, the first of the month that my baby is going to be born. Tonight Justin and I are going out to eat curry to see if the age-old myth can start this labour. I keep dreaming about being in Labour, but I’m sure that is my subconscience trying to get in on the act and hurry things along.

Ok, so while the going is good, I might get a few jobs done. Have a great weekend 🙂 And Happy Father’s Day to all you gorgeous Dad’s out there!
