Growing Up

Posted on

Where did the years go? Holly is off at her first Swimming Carnival – GO GREEN , Meg had her first night in Undies after about 10 days of dry nights, and there was no accident; and Jessica is
understanding everything and trying to say everything. They are growing up and getting big. I’m so proud!

Yesterday Rach and I did a little scratting at her place (that is where you Scrap and Chat). Poor Matt was home sick, but went beyond the call of duty by going out and buying us an Iced Coffee. What a gem he is.

I’m going to be screen printing Saturday. These showbags need a logo on them and so do 10 T-shirts. Stuff is rolling in for the bags. At one stage I was worried they wouldn’t be full enough, and now I am worried that I may have them too full. Might have to bump up the price to $12 rather than $10. Remind me not to do this again next year – I’ll just help on the BBQ or something easy 🙂

I hit the 12 week mark on the weekend. Feeling good and not like I am protruding too much. I feel very heavy down there, but I guess that is just that my body is worn out from having so many babies. At the end of the day I am already feeling like I just need to fall in a heap. Gosh I hope I start to “bloom” soon!! My SIL has 5 weeks to go till her first is born and I had to tell her my Boys name so that she and my brother don’t steal it. I just love this one boys name, so imagine if they called it that one. Fortunately it wasn’t on their list!! (and NO Justin it isn’t Kevin!). I’d better remember to tell my other SIL who is due in July – I can’t take any chances here!!

Almost 3 – better do the school dash.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

For all you Lovely Mums out there……

Real Mothers . . .

Real Mothers don’t eat quiche; they don’t have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandpit.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried playdough doesn’t come out of shag carpets.

Real Mothers don’t want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.

Real Mothers sometimes ask “why me?” and get their answer when a little voice says, “because I love you best.”

Real Mothers know that a child’s growth is not measured by height or years or grade . . . It is marked by the progression of Mama to Mummy to Mum.

I caved in…

and made the cornflake biscuits too. They are so yummy and I made them extra big and added sultanas too. Hmm – I see a pattern emerging here 😉

On the weekend we moved our business office out to Mitchell (close to the new Aussie Scrap Source Warehouse – too bad they aren’t open to the public or I’d be spending a lot of lunchtimes there!). The new office is huge and has heaps of room for us to expand. There is even a little enclosed office near my desk where I can put the baby when I have to go into work to do the pays etc. It all seems to be falling into place. Now we just have to find a new house and all will be perfect.

The girls all seem to have colds and coughs at the moment. It must be the cooler nights – getting uncovered and catching a chill. Bring on the real winter – I love getting all rugged up, and anyway, all my Maternity clothes are wintery so at least I’ll have things to wear 🙂

Found this joke to give a laugh!
A three year old walked over to the pregnant lady while waiting with his mother in the doctors office.

He inquisitively ask the lady,” why is your stomach so big?”
She replied, “Im having a baby.”

With big eyes,he asked, “Is the baby in your stomach?”
She said, “He sure is.”

Then the little boy with a puzzled look asked, “Is it a good baby?”
She said, “oh yes, its a real good baby.”

With even a more surprised and shocked look he said, “Then why in the world did you eat him?”

Have agood one 🙂

Cornflakes

Mmmm Mmmmm – I just love cornflakes, and one of my comfort, woe-is-me pregnancy delights is to tuck into a bowl with sultanas on the top and really cold milk, at any time of the day. I have taken this to new extremes today by making Honey Joys and practically eating the whole 2 dozen. I am currently deciding whether I should make Cornflake biscuits too, but maybe I’ll just stick with the Honey Joys 🙂

I had Meg and Jess at Tots Tumbling this morning. Meg loves it cause she is not strictly enrolled in the class, being 3 and the others all under 2’s, but she can do everything much faster and quicker and better than the littlies. It has given her some newfound confidence and that has to be good. Jess is not much of an activity girl. While the others are climbing up ladders and though tunnels, Jess prefers to lie down on the really soft fall mat and have a little kip. I can see her point – it is really comfy!

Holly is blossoming at school. Learning to read and sing songs about letters. Her highlight is being able to have a lunch order from the canteen. When I was in primary school our lunch orders were always under $1. Her’s today cost me $3.60 – a sandwich, milk and tub of fruit. What a fuddy-duddy I am – get with the times Fran!! Inflation, CPI, etc etc!

I have been madly trying to get things ready for the Charny Carnival (this is the major fundraiser for Holly’s school). I am a co-ordinator and organising the Cake Stall, Book Stall and showbags. Not any ordinary showbag I tell you. These are calico bags with the Carnival logo screen printed on them (thanks to Yours Truly) and filled with samples, freebies and discount vouchers. You may have seen similiar things at others Shows, but this is bumper and at the bargain price of $10, I’m counting on them walking out the door very fast. Only 3 weeks to go till the Carnival and I can’t wait till it is over so I can get rid of all the boxes of loot that are cluttering up my house.

Check out the Carnival website, the link is on my side bar. I made that site myself!!! Well Justin helped, but I put all the stuff up there. I’m pretty proud of it 😉

Have a good weekend.

Pancake Tuesday

Posted on

I just looked at the calendar and was reminded that tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday. That is the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent, which (if you are Catholic and abstaining from the some things during lent) means it is your last opportunity to have a little feast!

I’m dreaming of pancakes, bacon and maple syrup – which also reminds me that I promised to take Rach and Moi out to breakfast at some stage to introduce Rach to this delicasy. I still will girls, promise!!

The Canberra Show

Another weekend came and went. This one was busy. It was Justin’s birthday (34 – ouch) and our friends come down from Sydney to visit for the day. We dragged them along to see an open house – a potential home, right suburb, right location, right looking place. It was so great. So much so that it was about $100k out of our pricerange! This place had it all and more. When they say “Auction” it is difficult to estimate what price they might want, but the agent was pretty sure they wanted over $600k. Hmm – too much I think, but I’m sure someone will pay that!! It just won’t be me. 🙂

Sunday we went along to The Canberra Show. I was skeptical, but it turned out to be a great day. We got there first thing, which was a good move and managed to see most of it witout battling too many crowds. The walk through the cow shed lived up to my memories as a child. Smelly, HUGE bulls and cows, noisy, and dodging the occaisonal cow pat and weeing bovine. Meg almost got pooed on, but managed to get past without any landing on her!!

Mum bought the girls Princess showbags and lots more. The pram was so weighed down with stuff that whenever Jess got out to look at something, it toppled over backwards, dropping everything into the dust. Ahh – a great experience all around 🙂

Great to have Rach home again after her whirlwind trip to WA for the Scrapboxx Retreat. She said it was great and I’m sure after sleeping for a few solid hours she’ll be back to normal EST!

Happy Birthday to Moi too. Hope you had a great day today 🙂

Holly was delighted to tell me about a new friend at kindergarton.

“Mum, Priya’s dad is whole Indian and her mum is whole Australian, and that makes Priya HALF INDIAN. Isn’t that just great mum?”

I couldn’t help but smile and give her a cuddle. I hope life is always this magical for her.

It has passed and a good thing too. I hate being sick!

OK so now to the answers –

1. True – My feet at size 8.5 – I know – huge!
2. False – my car is a manual so I can in fact drive it.
3. True – my Grandma is a “Dame” in her own right (just last year that title was bestowed upon her) and a “Lady” because my Grandpa was knighted by the Queen in 1977. They are Sir James and Lady Mary. Very lah-di-dah!!
4. False – Amen – I not pregnant with twins. There was only one in there last week when I checked.
5. True – I sure can recite that movie word for word. It was my fav movie on high school and now I’ve got Holly watching it and singing “my little buttercup…”

7. False – I only have 2 sisters

10. False – I can curl my tongue!

Thanks for the giggle!
