The Ballet

Last night I took Holly to see the Ballet for the first time. We got all dressed up in our finery, collected the tickets, had a champagne (she had tickle juice) and then went in. Holly was jsut so excited and couldn’t wait for it to start. The music was playing, the theatre was dark and then the curtains rose. She was surprised by that “cause curtains usually go across Mum”! The costumes were amazing and the ballerina’s looked divine. She was awestruck by the lights and colour and glitter. The dancing was beautiful and she really liked the shoes and dresses.

She is quite familiar with the story of Sleeping Beauty and also with the music as we have the DVD. At one point the music was a song we recognised and we turned to each other and sang the lyrics. I can truly say, and I know it sounds gushy, but we shared that moment. It was really special.

All in all a good night, and I’ll certainly be taking her along to another show the next time those muscley Russians return to Australia.
