I posted this image because today I realised this – no matter how much hard work I have put into raising my girls and making sure they behave in ways that are socially acceptable,  they are their own people and will make good and bad choices along the journey of life.  You and I have made some good and bad choices and probably will continue to do so!  As long as I have done my job and put all the scaffolding in place, I will trust in their judgment (wrong or right) and talk to them about the consequences (both good and bad).  Being a helicopter parent is not my style but neither is letting them go and do whatever they want.  It is a fine line to tread and yesterday Holly surprised me with a very honest and candid talk which left me thinking “This is a good kid and I have done well with her”.  Parenting is hard and I think as I emerge into the teenage years with my children and I facing the hardest time of all.  Social media, bullying, body image etc are so in our faces it is hard to escape it.  Today I have learnt that talking to your children is so very important and letting them know that you love them is the greatest thing of all.
