Baby Brother Weds on Weekend :)

Posted on

The littlest brother got married on Saturday. He’ll always be the baby brother, but being 28 I guess to others he is quite mature!!!

So the entire family gathered in Manly on the weekend to see James marry his totally gorgeous fiancee Sascha. It was very hot, but so wonderful to see my Mum and Dad so happy for their youngest child, and absolutly fantastic to see lots of my aunts, uncles, cousins etc and have a chance to party with them all. This photo is of my parents, brothers and sisters, and from L to R is Me, Dad, Mum, James, Sascha, Lisa, Kate and Matt.

Now Awhile ago, I posted that Rach had taken me shopping and helped me buy a most fabulous dress. Well I have a confession to make…I took it back! Ahhhhh, I know I know, but I just wasn’t 100% comfortable in it. Anyhoo, in Perth I found THE dress that I had been waiting for. I fell in love with it and just had to get it. So here is a rather bad photo of me in my favourite dress that many were asking to see!!!

Please disregard me in the photo as I was dancing to “It’s Raining Men” and in the history of mankind there has never been a good photo taken of anyone while dancing!! 🙂

On the way home from the reception, which was at a function centre right on the beach, it was pouring, so here I am with my aunties “absolutely soaking wet”.

Great night and a great celebration. I was very proud of my brother and I dearly love my new Sister. I hope she feels very welcome in our family.

I also have to say a big “Happy 60th Birthday” to my Dad. Hope you have a great day Dad. Love you lots!

Rach has started her Box Challenge, so I better get cracking and see what I can come up with. and I also have to do the Tag! I’ll get onto that ASAP.

Have a great day:)

Something different.

I’ve been dabbling in a bit of “Beyond The Page” kind of stuff. I’ve never really been into it before now, preferring to do 12×12 LO’s and get some of the photos done. However, while away in WA I saw myself looking at objects in a new light.

For example: The stay at the 6 star hotel: We had this gourmet breakfast and on the table were little jars of honey, jam, marmalade etc. I took one look at them and Justin could see the glint in my eye. I felt like I was stealing as I left the restaurant with 2 of them in my hot little hand, so guilty me said to the waiter (French funky dude called Phillippe) “Do you mind if I take these little jars”. He said”Ov course, but what for?”, I replied “Well they would be handy to hold little craft things in” (not daring to get into the whole explaination of scrapbooking!). He smiled and told me to come back in a hour. When I returned he had 12 of them washed and labels removed, and grabbed my hand to take me to the table to get 4 more full ones!!

So this is what I have done with them….

The box in the background was the one that my new watch came in the other day. As I wanted to wear the watch from the shop the assistant said that I probably wouldn’t want the box. I started to agree with her, but then quickly said “Can I take a look at it?” and it was great, so I packed that up to take home too!!

Example 2
: On a winery tour in Margaret River we walked in this one place and there were the most fabulous wooden boxes stacked up high, with a price of $10 crossed out reduced to $5. OMG I was shaking with the thought of how many I could possibly get home on the plane. There is no way you could ever get a wooden box for that price!!!! It is quite large and very sturdy. 144 I grabbed 2 and Justin fortunately bought a case of wine, so the wooden boxes became the postage container!! They have arrived home now, and I gave one to Rach to see what she can come up with in decorating it. I didn’t mean it to be a challenge, but now it is!!! Any ideas would be gratefully accepted – I’ll give anything to do a better box than Rach, she is so creative!!! LOL.

Thanks for looking!!!

Encounters

I have just had Meg at the mall looking for her new glasses. Why oh why is it that all the shop assistants I came into contact with looked like they were 16 years old and new about as much about the product as a work Expericence kid.

I was in the empty glasses shop for 10 good minutes before I was forced to ask for some help. I wanted their advice about shape, style and colour (Meg has red hair and pink glasses don’t look so hot!), but when the assistant took a pair off the shelf and handed them to Megto put on herself, I had no confidence in her ability to advise me at all. When I was a small child being fitted for glasses, the guy always put them on me, checked their appropriateness and had other suggestions. This kid today looked to me for guidance and to tell you the truth I really didn’t want to buy them there because as the “experts” I sure didn’t geel like I was getting any expertise.

Anyway, we ended up with the Barbie frames, Meggie loves them to bits, and we can pick them up in a week 🙂

Pressure

I read Moi’s blog entry commenting that if you write controversial topics you will have lots of hits. I certainly feel the pressure to be funny and witty and knowledgeable and topical, and yet that is not why I even started this blog. It was supposed to be about me and my life, a way I could openly express myself and keep my friends and family abreast of what we are doing. Scrapbooking is my hobby and not the be all and end all of my life, so it is not something I want to write about all the time. I rarely visit the forums and websites but that is obviously where all the action is happening!

I thought about this a lot last night, wondering how I could get away from the feelings of inadequacy because I don’t get 10 comments on each entry, don’t get tagged for every thing going around or know lots of blogging people or don’t have particularly much that is rivetting to write about. It is difficult to keep writing for an audience – if I wanted to do that I would have been a journalist, something I am clearly not very good at! I don’t want to feel this way anymore, so it is back to basics for me. Back to my family, back to enjoying my hobby and doing it the way I want (without feeling that I have to make masterpeices out of each LO, or use the latest embellishments and paper) and back to making the most of my friendships and family time. I guess that is like a bunch a New Year Intentions. To find the confidence to be happy within myself and not worry about what I think others might be thinking! I do that all the time – change my behaviour because of what I am percieveing others want me to be. In all probability they are not thinking anything about me at all!! Bad habbit that I really want to break 🙂

So 11 days into this new year I am finding new personal strength. I’m going to make things happen this year that I spent last year dreaming about, and I am going to do it with my head held high.

Has anyone got a nice recipe for Thai Beef Salad? I really feel like it today casue it is so hot here, and that salad is really refreshing.

Holly and I went shopping this morning for school Shoes. Her first pair as she is off to Kindergarten in Feb. On her birthday the other day, she came to me first thing in the morning I remarked about how wonderful it must be to be 5. She replied “Yes it is, and now that I am 5, you can teach me to drive” 🙂

We are all still feeling a bit sluggish from the time difference, but managed to wake up at 8am this morning which is getting us back on track. I’ve even done some scrapping today, it is still unfinished on the kitchen table but I’ll post a piccy when I’m done.

Long Lost Blogger returns!!!

Yay – we are home from our 19 days in Western Australia! I don’t even know where to begin in recounting the wonderful time that we had. Each day was a great experience but here are the hightlights….

* Christmas Eve sleeping over at SIL’s and waking up on Christmas morning to see Santa’s footprints coming out from the Fireplace! Seeing the kids opening their presents too.

* Christmas Day lunch at the in-laws – rowdy and rauquous and great fun.

* Out night in the 6-star hotel. OMG this place was so fabulous. The kingsize bed had the softest sheets I have even felt I was sure that I never wanted to leave it!! Dinner and breakfast were amazing.

* New Year’s Eve in Fremantle

* Week down the coast in Dunsborough – a trendy seaside town. Our house was a $2.5 million property with the most amazing beach at the bottom of our yard!

* Bus tour with Justin’s siblings and cousins around the Margaret River wineries.

* Holly’s 5th Birthday party, and seeing the adults play a very serious game of Musical Chairs.

* Coming home and sleeping n my bed.

Gee it was wonderful to see the family and spend time with them while just Hanging Out. The kids were able to get to know their grandparents, aunts and uncles much better and they in turn were able to see how much the kids had grown and to “experience” them in relaxed atmosphere on a day to day basis. You just don’t get that when you have fleeting visits.

So all in all another wonderful WA vacation. I love Perth, I could easily live there! Nice to be home though 🙂 and now I have to catch up on everyone else’s blog news.
